My New Home In The Northwest Side of Philly

Hey guys, I've been in Philadelphia for a week now. I haven't been able to take any pictures, but I found a website, Skyscraper Sunset, that has a great selection of pictures of my own neighborhood (which is called Manayunk). Here are some of them:

I live on this street. Walk forward and you'll see the old Manayunk canal, the Skuylkill river, and the Skuylkill expressway (Interstate 76). I don't know if the railroad bridge is in use, but this should give you an impression of the hills in the area!

SEPTA, the regional transit system. This line through my neighborhood reminds me of the "El" in Chicago.

Typical street in Manayunk.

Go here to find albums of other cities, including Philly, NYC, Amsterdam, London, San Fran., and Seattle. That covers most of us, now doesn't it? I've always been a skyscraperphile, and hopefully with some money I can get back into the habit and start photo-documenting some cities myself.

Sasha's got a real job

I'm working as an office coordinator at a local art university in the International Admissions Department! Which means I get to use all the communication tools I learned from living with all of you. (what a horribly constructed sentence). I'm still applying to York, it's a lengthy process, I'll update you when anything changes. I am happy, i get to work with people with sexy accents... mmm sexy accents.

What San Franciscans' do at the beach

I know all you Europeans think that beaches are for swimming. But in San Francisco Ocean Beach, the main Beach to the Pacific Ocean, is usually freezing (rip tides don't help induce swimming either. Unless you're a very experienced surfer. Then you put on a wetsuit and wade out into the water looking like a misshapen seal.). So San Franciscans usually :::gasp::: walk on the beach, have bonfires... and sometimes spell out oversized political statements. By the way this is a great view of Golden Gate Park.

Ouse is flooding yet again

Todays 'big picture' on the bbc news website. The caption reads 'Two men watch from a window as flood water is pumped out of the Lowther public house on the banks of the River Ouse in York.'

Biathlon

Thinking back of our evenings in front of the telly discussing the beauty of Biathlon and how shooting could be combined with other sports, I found this video on line. Just click on the video...

Epiphany!!

Hellooooo!!
Happy Epiphany!!!
Today in Italy it's a big holyday because an old woman called Befana, similar to a witch, is bringing presents to all the good children!! She is older than Santa Claus and was more popular than him until the sixties..As always we celebrated with food ( strange, isn't it?!:-D)
Do you have Befana in other countries?!
..my wish for 2007?!It's to meet you all again!!..just one year ago I was in York having the worst meal in the world with Marta: pasta, mushroom and oil, it was disgusting, the worst I have ever cooked!! :-DDD..we couldn't even imagined it was the beginnning of a wonderful adventure that we will never forget!!
I MISS YOU!!!
Big kisses from Italy!

NEW YEARS!

Hello fulfordians! Happy New Year. I had a very happy New Years in St.Louis. I went to visit my friend Becca there. We went out to a lovely dinner with very hot waiters. On New Years eve Americans have a tradition of making resolutions; things we think we've done bad in the past and want to try to do better in the future (I assume other countries also have this but I have yet to hear about it).

One of my resolutions this year is to keep in better contact with everyone. I have post cards I wanted to send out sitting next to my bed. I have e-mails I have yet to answer. Please be patient I will get everything in order again. I miss Fulford soooo much. If you want to see how much look at my pouty face picture. So, now that I've told you one of my resolutions does anyone want to share one of theirs?

Happy new year!

I'm late..I know..don't forget i'm italian!!
Anyway I hope everybody will have a wonderful 2007!!
